G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital’s Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and its Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery organized a Master Class on ROSS Procedure – a complex, heart-related surgical procedure done to treat Aortic Valve diseases on Tuesday.
The session was held with the support of Children’s Heartlink, India and Mayo Clinic – one of the best hospitals in the US, and the session was spearheaded by Dr.Joseph A.Dearani, Professor, Cardiovascular Surgery, Mayo Clinic – USA. It had a strong participation of cardiothoracic & pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons and members of the surgical team.
Dr. P. Chandrasekar, Chairman, Department Cardiothoracic Surgery & Director Cardiac Transplant Services, GKNM Hospital welcomed the gathering. He briefed that GKNM Hospital does live workshops for more than 2 decades, and they have been some of the sought-after programs to learn valuable procedures from experts. This Master Class, that is being held as a live-workshop featuring 2 cases, is the fifth such in-depth program.
Dr.Ragupathy Veluswamy, CEO, GKNM Hospital delivered the Opening Remarks. He opined that this is a highly-focused procedural workshop led by Dr.Joseph A.Dearani,and it is designed as a step-by-step, hands-on experience session.
Through this master class, every aspect of the procedure – from patient selection, preparation to technical execution, outcome assessment, follow up protocols will be demonstrated in a structured systematic manner.

The technical session on Ross Procedure was handled by Dr.Joseph Derani while Dr.Nathan Taggart – Cardiologist handled a session on Patient Selection in Ross Procedure, followed by live case procedure -1.
