The Coimbatore Chapter of the Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) AFST(I) at PSG College of Arts and Science was recently recognised as the Best Performer of AFST(I) New Chapter Award.

The award was presented at the 30th Indian Convention of Food Scientists & Technologists (ICFoST), on “Food Safety, Standards, Security and Sustainability (FoodSSSS)” organised by AFST(I) HQ & AFST(I) Mumbai Chapter, ICT Mumbai

Padma Vibushan Sharma and Padma Shri Sharad Kale presented the citation and certificate during the Convention’s inauguration.

The Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India), a premier Professional Organisation established in 1957 is housed in the CFTRI – Mysuru campus with around 5000 members – Food Scientists and Technologists, across the globe.

The objective of the association in India is to stimulate the knowledge base on various aspects of Food Science and Technology by organizing conferences, and publications, stimulating research, development and training in the field of Food Science and Technology.

AFST(I) membership is open to all food professionals engaged in academic, industrial and related activities.

The Coimbatore Chapter was initiated by the Department of Food Processing Technology and PSG Food Processing Centre of  PSG College of Arts and Science,  Coimbatore and inaugurated on March 25th, 2024 at GRD Auditorium by Kumar, Scientist G & Associate Director, DRDO, Defence Food Research Laboratory, Mysuru with guidance & support of Naveen Shivanna, Honourable Secretary AFST(I) HQ.
