The State Conference of the Indian Medical Association was held recently, in Salem.

At the conference, Dr. Balamurugan, Chief Diabetologist of the Coimbatore Diabetes Centre, was presented with the National Academy of Medical Specialty Fellowship Award for his service to the Indian Medical Association.

The award was presented by Dr. Abdul Hassan, President, Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu. Dr. Senguttuvan, the new State President, Indian Medical Association for this year and Dr. Karthik Prabhu, Secretary, Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu were present at the event.

Balamurugan, presented a research paper titled ‘Diabetic Reversal: Can Early-Stage Diabetes Be Cured?’

He was also awarded the national-level Indian Medical Association AMS (Academy of Medical Specialities) Fellowship Award by the Coimbatore branch of the Indian Medical Association for his outstanding work last year.

Balamurugan has also been elected as the Joint Secretary of the Coimbatore Indian Medical Association.

It is also noteworthy that he has been appointed as the Chairman of this year’s Diabetes Awareness Committee to spread diabetes awareness among doctors and the public across the state.

The conference was attended by 1000 doctors from all over Tamil Nadu.
