The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Coimbatore Zone successfully concluded the second edition of its Cyber Security Conclave, “Check Post 24” recently.
The event, centred around the theme “Security, Beyond, Convergence,” aimed to propel Coimbatore’s industries towards adopting best practices for global competitiveness.
Dr Sanjay Tyagi, Director of STPI, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India highlighted the rapid expansion of the internet which has bridged the digital divide and accelerated India’s digital transformation, positioning the country as a hub for future Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
Dr Rama Subramaniam, Director & CEO, Valiant Technologies Pvt Ltd emphasized the lack of a unified cybercrime definition, which has led to varied interpretations at different stages. Dr Subramaniam provided a comprehensive overview of the cybersecurity ecosystem and the stages at which cybercrimes occur.
Gunasegharan K, Co-Convenor, ICT Panel & Director of eCaps Computers highlighted the alarming 60.9% surge in cybercrime cases nationwide since the previous conclave. Gunasegharan emphasized the conclave’s objective to raise cybersecurity awareness in Coimbatore and establish the city as a cybersecurity hub for emerging startups.
Rajesh Doraiswamy, Vice Chairman, CII Coimbatore & Joint Managing Director, Salzer Electronics in his welcome address highlighted the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes in the city. He emphasized that cyberattacks not only result in financial losses but also pose significant reputational risks to companies.
Mahalingam Ramasamy, Convenor, ICT Panel & Managing Director, Netcon Technologies delivered the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to all speakers and Chief Guests for their insightful contributions.
The one-day conference attracted around 150 delegates from across the country consisting of CXOs, Directors and Senior Management Officials from the Manufacturing and Service sectors.
