The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. NGP Institute of Technology (NGPiTECH), organised a six-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) sponsored by AICTE-ATAL on “Application of Artificial Intelligence and TRIZ-Assisted Robotic Surgery: An Innovative Approach” held recently.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Sreebalaji, Professor and Head of the Department.
The keynote sessions featured distinguished experts, including Santhakumar Mohan, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Palakkad who spoke on the intersection of robotic surgery and AI and Anandan, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital briefed on AI-assisted diagnosis.
Other experts addressed were, Nirav Patel, IIT Madras spoke on robotic automation and Sabarimalai Manikandan, IIT Palakkad, who detailed global innovations in AI-driven robotic surgery.
The participants also engaged in discussions on ethical issues which was led by Raghul Raman from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing; Kumar Rajamani from Cropin discussed on real-time AI guidance and Baskaran, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital discussed on AI-assisted surgical navigation.
Prabha, Principal of the Institute provided valuable insights on the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020. Karpagam from PSG College of Technology elaborated on telemedicine and postoperative care.
The program concluded with a session on the future of AI in robotic surgery by Suresh Jayabalan from the hospital followed by an industrial visit.
The event attracted 60 faculty participants from diverse academic domains and institutions across the state.
