PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) has been recognized as a nodal center for the Virtual Labs initiative, an ongoing project led by IIT Delhi.

The primary objective of the center is to facilitate simulation-based learning for faculties and students. Because students cannot maintain continuous access to physical laboratories, the virtual labs allow them to simulate experiments repeatedly without incurring the high costs associated with consuming lab materials repeatedly.

This designation is exclusive to PSG CAS and its students. Being a nodal center also provides the institution with opportunities to design experiments for the Virtual Labs platform.

While students are expected to gain their initial hands-on experience in the physical lab, the virtual platform enables them to practice and train on instrumentation and curriculum experiments later on. This benefit spans various streams, including physics, life sciences, biochemistry, physical sciences, and applied sciences.

In connection with this project, a one-day workshop on Virtual Labs was organized on recently for faculty members from various departments. The workshop aimed to familiarize faculty with the platform and encourage its effective integration into teaching and practical learning.

Chandan Kumar, Senior Project Engineer & Outreach In-charge, IIT Delhi, delivered the Inaugural Address and introduced the concept of Virtual Labs, explaining their mission, objectives, and significance in modern higher education and highlighted that Virtual Labs are designed to provide remote access to simulation-based laboratories in various disciplines of Science and Engineering, enabling learners to conduct experiments virtually and gain practical exposure beyond the limitations of conventional laboratory facilities.
