“India’s cardiovascular alarm is intensifying: deaths attributed to circulatory diseases rose by 6.6% in just one year. More worryingly, cardiovascular disease is no longer confined to the elderly, with 15.3% of 30–44-year-olds reporting cardiovascular disease,” states VGM Hospital, Coimbatore.

In order to spread awareness about heart diseases, promote preventive healthcare, and highlight the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for a healthier heart and a better quality of life, VGM Hospital observed World Heart Day 2026 on Tuesday by organizing a series of activities that included a rally.

The Commissioner of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Katta Ravi Teja I.A.S was the Chief Guest, and awareness rally was flagged off by Dr. V. G. Mohan Prasad, Founder – Chairman, VGM Hospital.

It started from the Cosmopolitan Club Corner and concluded at the Racecourse Media Tower, and had a strong participation from the public, Doctors of VGM Hospitals, Nurses, Paramedical staff & students of various nursing & paramedical colleges including SNS College, Nehru college, JK college, Texcity college & Bishop Ambrose college, etc.

Heart Day Activities also included a heart-health awareness session, pledge-taking ceremony, in addition to the rally. Dr. D. Dharmarajan, Cardiologist from VGM Hospital delivered a special address and also made a life-saving CPR demonstration session.
