Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (Autonomous), Coimbatore, in association with ATAL Academy, AICTE, is organising an Offline Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Next-Gen Business Analytics: The AI and Data Science Revolution” from 17th to 22nd August 2026.
The inaugural function of the six-day FDP was held with more than 48 participants from various institutions attending the session.
The programme aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by equipping faculty members with emerging knowledge and practical insights in AI, data science, and business analytics.
Valarmathi, Principal/CEO, VIMS, delivered the Presidential Address and, as the FDP Coordinator, expressed her gratitude to AICTE for sponsoring the programme. She emphasised the importance of continuously upskilling oneself in AI and Business Analytics.
She highlighted that while AI may automate certain human tasks, individuals who develop the ability to effectively apply AI in their day-to-day professional activities will continue to have strong career opportunities.
Lokesh, Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSGiTech), Coimbatore, delivered the Chief Guest Address.
He spoke on the significance of business operations, innovation, and the transformative role of technology in modern businesses.
Citing the RedBus example, he explained how innovative business models can create significant opportunities and generate value.
He further emphasised the importance of integrating Business Analytics and AI into routine business practices to formulate effective strategies and enhance revenue.
He illustrated this with the example of Market Basket Analysis, demonstrating how data-driven insights can support better business decisions.
The programme overview was presented by Saravanan, Assistant Professor and Programme Co-Coordinator, following which the technical sessions of the FDP commenced.
