VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science welcomed its freshers with a celebration titled “Vidya Yatra 2026” – UG Freshers’ Day on Thursday, marking the commencement of the 35th batch of undergraduate students.
The event witnessed the participation of 1,620 freshers along with nearly 1,400 parents. Delivering the welcome address, Suryakumar, Chairman, VLBJ Trust, extended a warm welcome to the freshers and parents into the VLB family, emphasising the institution’s vision of empowering students through value-based education and holistic development.
The occasion was graced by Madurai Ramakrishnan, acclaimed motivational speaker, television anchor, and lyricist, as the Chief Guest. Inspiring the young audience with his thought-provoking address, he urged students to cultivate self-belief, embrace challenges, and transform their dreams into achievements through dedication and determination.
Brindha, Director – Academics and Research, also graced the event. Kumar, Principal, in his presidential address, encouraged the freshers to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities and make meaningful contributions to society.
The event also featured an interaction session with students and alumni. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Murugesan, HoD, Department of Computer Science.
