Informa Markets, India’s leading B2B exhibition organizer, will host South India’s largest renewable energy sourcing expo, ‘RENEWX’, from April 27 to 29, 2026, at the Chennai Trade Centre, themed “A Decade of Impact, A Future of Abundance.”

The announcement was made today in a pre-event industry roundtable, which was held in Coimbatore at The Residency Towers.

Tamil Nadu and Chennai: Leading South India’s Renewable Energy Revolution

Tamil Nadu has established itself at a national leader in clean energy adoption, leading India in wind power capacity with approximately 11,830 MW (accounting for nearly 23% of India’s total wind capacity) and ranking among the top solar energy producers with over 10,000 MW of installed capacity. The state’s total renewable energy installed capacity stands at approximately 25,241 MW, representing around 58.59% of its total power generation capacity

Coimbatore, one of Tamil Nadu’s most industrialized cities, has emerged as a renewable energy adoption leader, topping the state with the highest number of rooftop solar installations-over 6,000 household connections as of October 2025-and targeting 30,000 households by March 2027 under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The city is also a major manufacturing hub for renewable energy and is witnessing the rapid adoption of solar energy by its textile, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
