KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology recently organised an Industry-Academia
Conclave titled “S(h)owskillz 1.0” bringing together industry leaders and academic experts to
strengthen collaboration and promote skill-oriented education among students.
Gayathri Anandakrishnan, Secretary, KPR Institutions, presided over the function and
highlighted the institution’s strong commitment to fostering industry–academia collaboration and creating meaningful opportunities that enhance students’ skills and prepare them for professional careers.
Devi Priya, Principal of the college, highlighted the importance of strong industry
engagement in preparing students to face real-world professional challenges.Rajamanickam, Head – Thermal Management, Tata Auto Components Systems, spoke about emerging trends in the industry and highlighted the importance of developing industry- relevant skills among engineering students.

Devakumar, President of the Chinnavedampatti Industrial Association, emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between industries and educational institutions.A panel discussion was also held with prominent industry leaders, including Rajamanickam; Arun Pai, Global Engineering Manager, ABB; Dinesh Sundaravelu CEO, Tamil Nadu Research Park Foundation, TIDCO; and Sonnet Xavier, Project Manager, CIRCOR Aerospace and Defence.
The session was moderated by Gowtham Kalyan, Manager– HRBP, L&T Financial Services.
The discussion focused on industry expectations from graduates, emerging technologies and ways to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry practices.The event also included interactive project review sessions where industry delegates examined innovative projects developed by students and provided constructive feedback to both students and faculty members.
Nearly 40 industry delegates participated in the conclave, making it a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional interaction.
