The Department of Computer Science with Cognitive Systems, Dr. NGP Arts and Science College, organised a two-day National Seminar on “Quantum Technologies and AI Applications: A New Era for the Life Sciences and Healthcare” on 7 and 8 January 2026. The seminar was sponsored by DBT-CTEP, New Delhi.
The inaugural session featured a presidential address by Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust, and Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswamy, Secretary, Dr. NGP Educational Institutions.
The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dinesh Gupta, Group Leader, Translational Bioinformatics Group, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India.
The felicitation address was delivered by Buvaneswaran, Chief Executive Officer of the Trust, and Saravanan, Principal of the college.
The seminar featured keynote addresses by Malliga, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai; and Sreekanth, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, Kannur University, Kerala.
Desingu, Scientist-C, Department of Virus Epidemiology, Vector Dynamics and Public Health, Institute of Advanced Virology, Kerala; Saranya, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore; and Gayathri Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Computing, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, also delivered the keynote addresses.
The seminar witnessed the participation of around 327 delegates from more than 14 institutions across India. A total of 45 research papers were presented during the seminar, of which 28 papers were published in the seminar proceedings with an ISBN number.
